After artist Shane Grammer saw a photo of a friend’s home, which had been reduced to a brick facade with only a chimney standing, he was compelled to paint it.

The first news of the Camp Fire didn’t portend what it would become. We look back at how the fire unfolded, how people are coping, how emergency procedures are changing in the wake of the Camp Fire and where people see hope for the future.
After last year’s Camp Fire, artist Shane Grammer breathed new life into the battered buildings of Paradise with his murals. Although the buildings, and artwork, have been removed for clean-up efforts, the mark he’s made remains.
Chris Kerston and his family were living in Paradise on Nov. 8, 2018. They were unable to reach their home to pick up important belongings or their animals. Their house burned, most of their animals perished. But, they have begun again, in Concow.
