Audit
On Sept. 27, 2023, the CSU released an audit that identified significant issues related to CapRadio’s record keeping, management oversight and accounting processes and procedures.
CapRadio is taking these findings extremely seriously and is actively working with Sacramento State to address the recommendations identified in the audit. All required measures will be taken to put CapRadio back on strong financial and organizational footing. Already, Sacramento State has assumed financial oversight of CapRadio and is strengthening organizational ties.
These changes do not and will not interfere with CapRadio’s journalistic and programming independence.
Sacramento State has commissioned a forensic examination to determine the origins and causes of CapRadio’s operational and financial problems. More information will be available once that examination is complete.
Tom Karlo, hired in August 2023 to serve as CapRadio’s interim president and general manager, will continue in that role into the first quarter of 2024. Karlo is among the country’s most respected public broadcasting professionals and is working closely with Sacramento State to stabilize and strengthen CapRadio finances and operations.
Maintaining the trust of our community and valued members like you is of utmost importance. We ask for your support as we work to make changes that ultimately will result in a stronger CapRadio that continues to deliver the news, information, music and cultural services you rely on and care about.
