California’s 1,100 miles of coastline brings millions of people every year from around the world for recreation, research and exploration.
However, global warming and large-scale fishing operations have endangered the Pacific’s fragile ecosystems, author David Helvarg explains in his book "California’s Love Affair with the Sea."
The book will be distributed to 120 members of the state Legislature for California’s Ocean Day on Tuesday.
