For the past few months, the New York Times has produced a newsletter focused on California stories from a California-based reporter.

Michael McPhate writes the California Today newsletter, which comprises one feature story and an aggregate of stories from various outlets written that day.

McPhate joins us in studio to discuss the focus of the newsletter, who it’s appealing to and some of his latest stories. 

Some of his stories include critiquing the University of California system on its affordability and examining San Diego's housing situation.
