California has announced a new rubric for grading the state’s public schools.

It’s meant to be more comprehensive, require greater accountability and provide metrics for things like college-readiness.

However, opponents of the new measure believe it’s difficult for parents to comprehend and is missing steps in school accountability.

State Board of Education President Michael Kirst knows the new guidelines inside and out.

He’s joined by Samantha Dobbins Tran with the group Children Now, which has made their opposition to the guidelines loud and clear.
