Roger Xia, an 8th grader at Holmes Junior High in Davis, is performing on NPR's "From the Top" at Mondavi Friday. The 13-year-old pianist keeps a busy schedule, practicing constantly with lessons divided between Davis, Sacramento and San Francisco.

He also performs with the San Francisco Symphony's Youth Orchestra and plays violin with the Holmes Junior High Advanced Orchestra.

Last year, Xia was winner of the Mondavi Center's Young Artists Competition at the age of 12 and is hoping to participate in the Pacific Musical Society Competition in the Bay Area later this year. Xia joins Insight to talk more about his music and where he hopes it will take him.
