Why should people in California and the rest of the country care so much about the caucuses of an agricultural state with six electoral votes and a population not much bigger than the Sacramento Region?
It’s hard to escape the constant polls and predictions in the lead-up to the Iowa caucuses, but is the Hawkeye State even a good indicator of which candidates will claim their party’s nomination? It tends to favor grass-root activism and insurgents, which skews the odds in favor of candidates like Bernie Sanders, Donald Trump and Ted Cruz.
