150 years ago, Mark Twain spent 88 Days in California’s gold country hiding out from the law. That’s when he wrote “The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County” – and many literary scholars say defined his writing voice. Film producers John C. Brown and Bert Simonis have recently finished a movie depicting Twain’s time in Calaveras County called, “88 Days in the Mother Lode: Mark Twain Finds His Voice.” It has been airing on Sacramento’s regional PBS station KVIE and may air nationally soon. Both producers will speak to us about the film.
