Tens of thousands of sea lion pups are believed to be starving on California beaches. Warm ocean waters are accumulating along the coast and making it harder for the sea lions to find food. The parents of the pups are strong enough to swim long distances chasing food but the pups are being left to wither. The stranding has sparked a massive rescue operation drawing volunteers and veterinarians from across the country. The Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito is one facility taking in the imperiled sea lion pups. The center has seen an outpouring of support from volunteers but is still seeking donations for the rescue effort.
Executive Director of The Marine Mammal Center Jeff Boehm joins us to talk about what you can do to help support the emergency response to the stranded pups.

Annual Wildlife Care Classes Open for Volunteers to Assist Mother Nature
The Wildlife Care Association (WCA) provides an essential service in Sacramento & Yolo Counties helping recover, heal and release small animals and birds injured in our human world. Based at 5211 Patrol Road, McClellan Park, the local non-profit depends on private donation and is powered by volunteers who care!
Classes for wildlife care volunteers begin Sunday, April 19 from 1-3pm with Microscopes! Classes continue each month thru August.
Upcoming classes include Zoonotics, Opossums, Raccoons, Raptors and Reptiles. Learn the care and feeding of wildlife!
