California accounts for about 80 percent of domestic flower production, but dozens of growers are facing closure due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Most retail florists have closed and many events featuring flowers prominently have been postponed or canceled altogether. Moving flowers to markets is also proving to be a challenge for state growers as many motor carriers have stopped picking them up.
