California has strict gun laws and a low rate of gun deaths. But there have been three mass shootings, just since last Thursday, in California. Twelve people died, ten were wounded. What’s happening? And why can’t we change it?
Dr. Garen Wintemute is a UC Davis emergency room doctor. He is the doctor who, in 1985, started studying gun violence because of what he was seeing first hand in the emergency room. He’s still practicing and has become the Director of the UC Firearm Violence Research Center. That center is nationally and internationally recognized. Dr. Wintemute and Julia Schleimer join Insight.
