California Gov. Gavin Newsom declared a state of emergency this weekend as fires burned throughout the state, including the Kincade Fire in Sonoma County which had forced nearly 200,000 people from their homes.
At the same time millions of Californians were without power as Pacific Gas and Electric cut power to 940,000 customers in an attempt to prevent its equipment from causing further fires. The company said last week there was a break in its lines near where the Kincade Fire started Wednesday.
We get the latest updates on the fires and power from officials around California and the National Weather Service.
