Even though it's been legal to use cannabis for medical reasons in California since 1996, there has been little research into the medical benefits of the drug in humans, let alone animals.

UC Davis is looking to change that with an anonymous study intended to gather information for both public education and for use in creating a basis for veterinary research going forward.

Dr. Jamie Peyton is leading the study at U.C. Davis and explains her interest in the project and what researchers might learn.
