Capital Stage’s Founding Artistic Director Stephanie Gularte is packing up and heading east for a new job as the producing artistic director for American Stage in St. Petersburg, Florida. Gularte is a longtime staple of the Sacramento theater scene and it’s believed her departure will create a vacuum that will soon need to be filled. Gularte joins us from Florida as she prepares to begin her new job. Arts critics Jeff Hudson and Marcus Crowder join us in our studio to talk about how Gularte shaped Capital Stage and what her leaving Sacramento means for the local theater scene.
