Neutering your dog before it’s at least six months old can lead to higher rates of certain joint disorders and cancers, according to a new report out of UC Davis’ School of Veterinary Science.  But, depending on the breed, the effects of neutering a dog too young can be much more severe. UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine Professor Emeritus Benjamin Hart discovered that golden retrievers are much more severely impacted by early neutering than Labradors. Hart joins us to explain why this is, and what the implications of this discovery might be.
