This July will be the first “Eppie’s Great Race” without Eppie Johnson. He died last September, not long after celebrating the race’s 40th anniversary. Now Eppie’s children, George Johnson and Lisa Mangels, are making a few changes. Instead of scheduling “Eppie’s Kids Duathlon” and “Eppie’s Great Race” the same day, Johnson’s next of kin are separating the events by two months. That way, parents won’t have to choose between participating in the race or watching their children race. Joining us to talk about the changes to the kids duathlon, scheduled for this Saturday, is George Johnson and his children Athena Johnson and Eppie “E.J.” Johnson.
