The Sacramento Region boasts an array of outstanding music education programs, many with national reputations. On this month’s Insight Music we feature classical and jazz musicians from Davis High, Folsom High, Rio Americano High and the Sacramento Youth Symphony. Prepare to be impressed and inspired by these talented young performers, who all took part in CapRadio’s inaugural Student Musician Showcase last month.
This string quartet from the Sacramento Youth Symphony is made up of Brandon, 16, and Connor, 14, on violins, Olivia, 12, on cello and Isabella, 9, on viola. They're all members of the Luong family.
The Amati Trio is made up of pianist Janet Liu, violinist Sue Bin Park and cellist Nina Martin, three seniors at Davis High School.
This pianoless quartet includes Brian Nipper on tenor sax, Matthew Wang on trombone, Sophia Augustine on bass and Eli Strombom on drums.
Pianist Jake Nalangan, bassist Maddy Hill and drummer Joseph Bly make up the tRio.
