Los Angeles Philharmonic: 2 July 2017
The Los Angeles Philharmonic and Music Director Gustavo Dudamel begin their season of broadcasts on CapRadio with Beethoven and a work by John Adams that incorporates Beethoven's music.
John Adams said he first got the idea for this new work when listening to Stravinksy's "Pulcinella": "I was suddenly stimulated by the way Stravinsky had absorbed musical artifacts from the past and worked them into his own highly personal language," which is what Adams does here with Beethoven.
