A former Yuba City High School teacher facing several complaints of sexual misconduct will retain his teaching credential.
The California Commission on Teacher Credentialing sent a letter to Jim Whiteaker on January 23 stating that it had closed its investigation and recommends no action against him at this time.
Whiteaker was accused by a student January 2018 of grabbing her by the buttocks. The allegation prompted former students to come forward and speak before the Yuba City school board to accuse Whiteaker of misconduct over a span of 20 years.
After the board recommended termination, Whiteaker resigned in July and agreed to a settlement with the district. Upon his leaving the school, his case was sent to the CCTC.
Whiteaker commented on the CCTC’s findings with a Facebook post on February 2. “On behalf of my family, I would like to take this opportunity and say a HUGE thank you to everyone that kept us in your thoughts and prayers throughout this whole ordeal,” he wrote.
