Crews fighting the North Fire in the Tahoe National Forest near Interstate 80 have been able to keep it mostly in check, according to Placer County Sheriff's officials.
The blaze has burned 1,274 acres and is 17 percent contained, according to the Forest Service.
"Attacking them aggressively and quickly before they can have the chance to really expand, that's kind of the name in this fire season now," Placer County Sheriff's Lieutenant Andrew Scott said.
The fire broke out in Monday in Emigrant Gap near the North Fork campground. The North Fork, Onion Valley, Tunnel Mills, and Lodgepole campgrounds and the Snowflower RV Resort are under mandatory evacuation orders, as well as the Silvertip Day Use Area.
The Sliger Fire, burning near the El Dorado-Placer county line northwest of Georgetown, has burned 104 acres and is 45 percent contained, according to Cal Fire.
All evacuation orders for the Sliger Fire have been lifted.
