Investigators have spent the past two days searching along the Sacramento River for a pair of missing teenagers, now presumed dead.
Search and rescue crews with dogs and homicide investigators were in a remote area of the county along the Sacramento River east of Knights Landing, a day after four people were arraigned for kidnapping and killing missing Yolo County teenagers Enrique Rios and Elijah Moore.
Matt Davis, a sergeant with the Yolo County Sheriff's Department, says his department, the Woodland Police Department and the FBI were looking below ground for the teenagers’ bodies.
"We've been out there the last two days since yesterday morning looking in a specific area. Unfortunately, so far, we have found no physical evidence," Davis said.
Davis says the search of the area has concluded. Investigators are not saying what led them to the location.
Rios and Moore disappeared in the fall of 2016. Moore's mother, Alicia Moore, tells Capital Public Radio her son had been in a fight with one of the suspects, Chandale Shannon, shortly before Moore disappeared.
She says an affidavit by a Woodland Police Department detective from last year was partially correct in that regard. She says her son had taken a jar of marijuana from Shannon after a fight, but that he did not use a gun to do so.
Shannon of Winters, David Froste, Jonathan Froste of Knights Landing and an 18-year-old who was 16 at the time of the crimes were arraigned Monday.
