Country star Jason Aldean, who was performing Sunday in Las Vegas when a gunman opened fire on the crowd, has canceled his upcoming shows in California.
Aldean wrote in a statement on his website he decided to cancel his three shows this weekend in Los Angeles, San Diego and Anaheim out of respect for the at least 59 people who died at the Route 91 Harvest Festival and to take some time to mourn.
He will resume his tour next week, on Oct. 12 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
"Our first time back onstage will be a very tough and emotional thing for us," he wrote. "But we will all get through it together and honor the people we lost by doing the only thing we know how to do – play our songs for them."
People who bought tickets for these shows can get refunds at the point of purchase, Aldean's web site states.
