The attendance numbers for the California State Fair were down this year for the second consecutive summer.
The fair saw a drop of 5 percent in 2017, following last year's 14 percent the previous year.
Organizers say excessive heat is one of the main reasons for the decline.
The State Fair used to be held in August, but was moved to July back in 2010 so more students could attend.
Sabrina Rodriguez, State Fair spokeswoman, said despite two consecutive years of attendance drop, the fair is solvent and will continue with July dates moving forward.
"There is no concern that the fair would go away, and we already have our dates for 2018," said Rodriguez. "So, the fair is trying to evolve in a world where social media and technology is very prominent, but we still try to stay true to our agriculture roots because that's really what fair is about."
Rodriguez said part of that agricultural focus is the continued competition among California's 58 counties to highlight their various products.
Wine and beer competitions were popular this year, with Elk Grove's Flatland Brewing Company winning Best of Show for its Pilsnerish Blonde Ale.
