June 12, 8:45 A.M.: Regional Transit reported that all repairs are complete and service has resumed.
Sacramento light rail service will have a major disruption this weekend as construction crews work 24 hours-a-day to replace an aging switch.
The shut down will take place at the 13th Street station starting Friday at 7 p.m. and is expected to continue through early Monday morning.
Regional Transit says the 30-year-old switch is a critical component and must be replaced.
During the closure the Red, Blue, and Green lines will have segments where busses will be used as a temporary bridge for service.
