There is good news to report from Santa Clara, where Cal Rugby player Robert Paylor is in a hospital for a spinal injury he suffered two weeks ago.
Paylor has regained some feeling in his hands and feet, but is unable to move them.
Dr. Stephen McCenna of Santa Clara Valley Medical Center says rehabilitation will begin when Paylor recovers from pneumonia.
"We would expect him to have some degree of recovery naturally over the next year," he said. "That would include some recovery of his hand function."
McCenna called the injury to Paylor's spine incomplete, which he says is a good thing. He also says no two spinal injuries are the same.
Paylor is a junior at Cal. He is from Eldorado Hills and went to Jesuit High School in Sacramento. He was injured during Cal's national championship win on May 9 in Santa Clara.
