UPDATE May 09, 2017, 12:00 p.m.: Sacramento County Coroner Kim Gin says the autopsy has begun on a body found in the Feather River Sunday. She says details from the procedure will be sent to Sutter County Sheriff's detectives, but the coroner's office will not release any information to the public.
Gin said in a phone conversation with Capital Public Radio before noon Tuesday that she did not know the sex of the body and was unsure why local media outlets were reporting that the office had confirmed the sex.
The body was found just south of where Aly Yeoman's pickup was found last month. She has been missing since March 31st.
UPDATE May 08, 2017, 1:00 p.m.: The Sacramento County Coroner has been contracted by Sutter County to perform an autopsy on a body found in the Feather River Sunday. The body was found near a public park and boat launch ramp.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office dispatch center says it received a telephone call from an angler at about 12:46 Sunday afternoon.
The caller reported a body in the Feather River, south of the Live Oak Park and Recreation Area boat launch, in Live Oak.
The Sutter County Sheriff’s Office says it sent a patrol boat to the area and recovered a body. The body was turned over to the Sutter County Sheriff/Coroner.
The cause of death and identity of the person are pending a forensic examination.
A statement from the department says, "At this time, it is undetermined if this decedent is connected to the Aly Yeoman missing person case."
According to the department's website, the Sheriff/Coroner determines the cause of death of all fatalities in the county.
But, Sacramento County has been contracted in this case and will set up a time for an autopsy.
Yeoman disappeared sometime late Thursday, March 31.
She was last known to be at a home on Romero Street, near Butte House Road and Harter Parkway, in Yuba City.
Her green Toyota Tacoma was later captured by a home surveillance camera in Live Oak driving on Pennington Road, 11 miles away.
The truck was found four days later in an orchard nearby. Search crews found a single set of footprints leading away from the truck.
Pennington Road continues east and then turns south until it dead-ends at the boat ramp.
