There is now a $5,000 reward for information leading to the location of the 20-year-old Yuba College student who disappeared March 30.
On Friday, the FBI, the Gridley-Biggs and Yuba City police departments, and the Butte County and Sutter County sheriff’s departments, gathered with the family of Alycia (Aly) Leane Yeoman to announce the reward.
Gridley-Biggs Chief Dean Price read from a statement while flanked by about a dozen members of Yeoman's family.
The statement said in part, "We firmly believe in our hearts that Aly is alive and needs our help."
The statement goes on to say, "Aly, if you're hearing this, we have come together from all across the country. We love you and are desperately doing everything we can to bring you home safe again."
Her mother, Paula, stood near Chief Price and cried softly as he read the statement. Price also announced the investigation was being turned over from his Gridley-Biggs Police Department to Sutter County Sheriff’s investigators.
Chief Price apologized if any of his previous statements had spread any misinformation about messages the family has received. He wouldn’t comment on a media report that Yeoman’s family had been sent ransom messages.
He characterized the social media messages as "phishing."
Yeoman was last seen near the Wal-Mart in Yuba City late last Thursday. Her green Toyota Tacoma was later captured by a home surveillance camera in Live Oak driving onto a levee. The truck was found Monday in an orchard nearby. Search crews found a single set of footprints leading away from the truck.
Butte County Sheriff Kory Honea said the search around the truck included 100 volunteers and concluded yesterday. He said no further searches were planned for the 11 miles between where the truck was found and where Yeoman was last seen.
The FBI searched a home in Yuba City on Thursday in connection with Yeoman’s disappearance. She had apparently been at the home on Romero Street the night she went missing. FBI agents could be seen carrying plastic containers away from the home.
