A group of Sacramento-area business, labor and political leaders are in Washington D.C. this week to highlight where federal help is needed most.
Sacramento City Councilman Eric Guerra is part of the group. He says among the top discussions so far was a meeting with the Housing and Urban Development Department where the conversation focused on a voucher system for feeding and sheltering the homeless.
"It was very positive that the department said to keep moving forward ... I think it was good to hear directly from the federal government," Guerra says.
He says despite the positive meeting, there's still a lot of uncertainty in Washington, mostly about the status of federal agencies and budget issues.
Infrastructure, including high-speed internet, were also talked about. Guerra says the trip was paid for by several community and business groups. It wraps up Wednesday.
