Emergency crews are preparing for the second of three strong storms set to hit the Sacramento area Thursday night.
Cleanup from Wednesday night's wind-related damage continued today as more unsettled weather moved through the area.
SMUD says all available crew members are working around the clock to restore power to customers.
At the peak Wednesday night, more than 78,000 customers were affected. SMUD says that number is now down to 4,300.
Sacramento County Spokesman Matt Robinson says resources are being used judiciously, given the stormy month we've already had.
"We have spent the last week and a half getting rained on, having to deal with flooding, things like that," says Robinson. "We're in the mode of making sure that crews are ready and we're taking care of emergency calls as they come in."
Regional Transit says both the Gold and Blue Light Rail lines in Sacramento are now fully operational, after strong winds and a downed tree disrupted overhead wires and crossing gates earlier.
