Recent storms have prompted many road closures in rural areas of Yolo and Solano counties. Farmers in Capay Valley also dealt with spillover from Cache Creek over the weekend.
Trini Campbell, a partner in Riverdog Farm, says this weekend's storm was the biggest she's seen since around 2005.
She says Cache Creek rose to its flood stage on Sunday afternoon and some of her livestock had to be moved to higher ground.
"It's exciting when this much volume happens all at once, but we just had to be prepared and we hope that the rain continues at a steady level," says Campbell.
She says Capay Valley residents were stranded on Sunday when the area's one highway was closed on both the north and south ends of the valley.
Highway 16 reopened in the Esparto area on Monday morning.
All schools in the Esparto Unified School District that were closed Monday will reopen Tuesday.
Cache Creek is expected to rise again Tuesday, but the National Weather Service predicts it will remain about four feet below the flood stage.
