Some residents and business owners in Marysville received voluntary evacuation notices on Thursday.
The notices follow a warning from the National Weather Service forecast that predict possible flooding from this weekend's storm systems. The County Emergency Services Manager told YubaNet that the Yuba River is expected to rise to 83 feet by early Monday morning.
Data from the California Nevada River Forecast Center, which monitors potential flooding around the state, shows that the Yuba River water levels have increased from 63 to more than 71 feet since Monday. The flood stage on the Yuba River is 87 feet.
The Yuba River set a record in January 1997 when storms raised the river level over 91 feet and caused flood damage.
Sandbags are available at the following locations in Yuba County:
- Yuba County Public Works Valley Corp Yard: 1420 Sky Harbor Drive, Olivehurst, CA 95961
- Marysville Fire Department of California will also have sandbags available for residents. Check in with staff and bring a shovel. Sand pile located at: 107 9th Street, Marysville, CA 95961
