Sacramento State has announced it will make across-the-board cuts of slightly more than 1 percent to each division, while it increases enrollment to solve a looming budget deficit.
In a letter, President Robert Nelsen says the increase of 427 full-time students will bring the campus revenues to $297-million.
But, Nelsen says the school will spend a million-and-a-half dollars more than that because of pay raises for faculty and staff.
Nelsen says the school's reserve funds will not be used to help make up the deficit.
The campus’s central reserves will be used to help build the $91 million Science II building. Sac State has committed $20 million to construction. The CSU system has pledged $71 million.
