The creator of Star Wars and American Graffiti says he plans to open an art museum in California.
George Lucas says he has scrapped plans to build a Museum of Narrative Art in Chicago and would instead build one in his home state.
Lucas had planned to build the museum on the lakefront of Lake Michigan, but was blocked by a lawsuit from a group called Friends of the Parks. The group argued the plans violated laws restricting development along the lake.
Lucas accused the group of protecting a parking lot.
The group says it's unfortunate the film director did not choose to pick a different site in the city.
Lucas was born and raised in Modesto and attended film school at the University of Southern California.
He did not say where he was planning to build the museum that will bear his name.
