Donald Trump has removed a prominent white nationalist from his slate of California delegates to the Republican National Convention.
Unlike in many other states, GOP delegates from California are picked by the presidential candidates themselves.
When the Trump campaign submitted its slate to the California Secretary of State’s office on Monday, the list included the name of William Johnson, a prominent white nationalist.
"Upon careful review of computer records, the inclusion of a potential delegate that had previously been rejected and removed from the campaign’s list in February 2016, was discovered," Trump's California state director, Tim Clark, said in a statement released by the Trump campaign. "This was immediately corrected and a final list, which does not include this individual, was submitted for certification."
Johnson’s inclusion drew sharp criticism from Democrats Tuesday. The Democratic National Committee called it further proof that Trump has “neither the temperament nor judgment to serve as president.”
