Tests for lead at the Mangan Park indoor rifle and pistol range in Sacramento have shown high levels of contamination in three areas outside of the facility.
High levels were found in the parking lot drainage area and the sidewalk leading to the main entrance.
Fencing around the site was extended to block public access to those areas.
The third site was already fenced off.
The building has been closed since 2014.
The city, Sacramento County and the state are creating a plan to clean up the areas outside of the range.
The city says park and play areas in the neighborhood have been tested and do not contain unsafe levels of lead.
