A new report finds most major industries in the Sacramento area added jobs last month.
February's unemployment rate in the four-county region was 5.4 percent. State analysts say it hasn't been that low in February since 2007.
From January to February of this year unemployment dropped by a tenth of a percent.
Cara Welch is with the state Employment Development Department. She says the leisure and hospitality sector had the greatest increase in jobs.
"We saw most of that increase in food services and drinking places and that accounted for 95 percent of the gain adding 2,000 jobs," says Welch.
Education and health services grew by 1,400 jobs.
"This industry usually sees an increase of 400 jobs in a 10-year average, so these gains were better than average," says Welch.
But she says employment gains were offset by job losses in two industries: trade, transportation and utilities and professional and business services.
The Sacramento region's 5.4 percent February unemployment rate is lower than the statewide rate of 5.5 percent.
