Downtown Stockton is going to be getting a fresh coat of paint when artists create new murals to brighten the city.
Postcards from Stockton is designed to be a celebration of the city's history and cultural diversity that will cover downtown buildings in art.
Murals will take the form of vintage postcards.
Downtown Stockton Alliance is behind the outdoor project. Alliance CEO Cindi Fargo says visitors will be able to interact with murals by taking selfies and sharing them.
"It's something that's not intimidating to people and I think for most people, it's an accessible form of art that can be easily appreciated by almost everyone,” she says. “So that's one of the reasons why we turned to it for enhancement of public art and spaces in our downtown."
Fargo says two murals will be completed this year by early May and two or three murals a year are planned after that.
