Governor Jerry Brown’s administration has released a new water action plan for California that lays out how water will be managed in the state. Most of the priorities remain unchanged from the plan that was released two years ago.
The plan addresses how to deal with drought, water quality, water supply, flooding and climate change. Brown says it’s important to keep in mind that there is no single solution to the state’s water problems.
“Water recycling alone won’t do it, storage alone won’t do it, conveyance alone won’t do it, capturing stormwater won’t do it, desalinization won’t do it, we need all of it and we need all of it in a very sophisticated careful way,” says Brown.
The Governor also touted his plan to build twin tunnels to carry water from north of the Sacramento-San Joaquin Delta to southern California. He was speaking at the Association of California Water Agencies conference.
