4:17 p.m. - According to Cal Fire, the blaze burning in Lake County is now at 8,500 acres and is 5 percent contained.

11:35 a.m. - Cal Fire says the fire has grown to 8,300 acres, with zero percent containment. Three residences have been destroyed, along with several outbuildings.
The primary focus for today is focusing on contanment lines by air resources and ground crews. Wednesday night firefighters were heavily committed to evacuations and structure defense.
Mandatory evacuations are in place for residents in the Morgan Valley area. Cal Fire says the terrain is rugged, steep, with difficult access, in heavy brush and timberland.
The fire has entered into the Cache Creek Wilderness Area and BLM Berryessa Snow Mountain National Monument Area. Additional resources are ordered.
There are approximately 650 evacuees. Two evacuation centers are opened - Highland Senior Center, 3245 Bowers Road, Clearlake and Middletown High School, 20932 Big Canyon Road, Middletown.
An animal evacuation center is opened at the Lower Lake Social Services parking lot, 15975 Anderson Ranch Parkway, Lower Lake.

7:23 a.m.: In less than 24 hours, the Rocky Fire burning in rugged terrain east of Lower Lake in Lake County has quickly spread.
The fire is now at 8,000 acres with zero percent containment.
Susie Blankenship, with Cal Fire, says the fire is moving so fast because the terrain is heavy with brush and timber. And she says access is difficult.
"So the terrain is extremely dry out there," she says. "And [the Rocky Fire] is burning very hot."
She says the fire has been destructive, taking several buildings.
"I don't have the count of outbuildings that have been destroyed. But we have several and we also have two residential homes destroyed."
Evacuations are in place for the area.

The fast-spreading fire is burning east of Lower Lake and officials say people living in the area have been ordered to immediately evacuate.
According to the Cal Fire's website, there are approximately 500 evacuees. The evaucation center is open at the Highland Senior Center, 3245 Bowers Road in Clearlake.
An evacuation center for animals is located at the Lowelake Social Services parking lot.
