Mark Cavendish of Great Britain and the Etixx - Quick Step team won another sprint to the finish and his third Amgen Tour of California stage Thursday. But, he is not the overall leader.
That is Toms Skujins of Latvia and the Hincapie Racing Team. His breakaway in Stage Three that led to victory continues to hold up.
After 22 hours of racing, he leads Peter Sagan of Tinkoff - Saxo by 18 seconds and Julian Alaphilippe of Etixx - Quick Step by 44 seconds.
Cavendish is 20 minutes behind in the overall race.
Stage Six for the men will be a 6.6-mile time trial starting and finishing in the Six Flags Magic Mountain parking lot in Valencia.
The fourth and final stage of this year's women's tour will precede the men's race.
The Friday time trials were moved from Big Bear Lake. The weather forecast for Friday is snow at the lake.
