It's only been a month since Major League Soccer told Sacramento it would not be in the league's current expansion plans.
But, MLS Commissioner Don Garber says he believes the league will have a new expansion plan within a year.
During an hour-long, question-and-answer session on the Fox Soccer Facebook page, Garber answered nearly 50 questions, including one from a Sacramento Republic F-C fan on expansion.
"Our owners will get together soon to discuss future expansion. I believe we will have a plan to share publicly within a year. Sac Republic has done a great job. We cannot move forward with any new expansion teams until we've finalized our future expansion plan."
Sacramento won the USL-PRO championship in its first year in the league.
The league recently selected Miami and Minnesota to join Orlando and New York as the newest expansion teams.
Fans in Houston, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and Canada also asked Garber about an MLS team in their cities.
Garber said there are no plans to put another team in Canada or Houston.
He did say the league should consider an east-west all-star game and video instant replay, though he does not support a goal line camera.
"I am a strong believer in using technology to improve the game. I've noticed that the Dutch First Division has tested video replay... I'd like for us to do the same."
Garber concluded his remarks by noting the average attendance to date for MLS games is nearly 21,000.
Sac Republic FC hopes to have a plan in place by the end of the year to build an MLS-sized stadium if the league selects the team in the next round of expansion.
