Update: 9:30 p.m. - Forty Structures Destroyed; Containment At 50 Percent; Fire Resources Added
CAL FIRE reports that 40 homes and outbuildings have been destroyed by the Round Fire, burning northwest of Bishop, California, in Inyo and Mono counties.
Containment of the fire stood at 40 percent as of Saturday evening.
The Town of Paradise & Swall Meadows are under a mandatory evacuation.

Update: 9:40 a.m.: Fire Grows To 7,000 Acres, Rain Aids Firefirefighters
The fire grew to 7,000 acres overnight Friday, with appoximately 20 structures believed to be lost. Mandatory evacuations for the towns of Paradise and Swall Meadows remain in effect.
CAL FIRE says the blaze in Inyo and Mono counties is 30 percent contained. There are 200 personnel working the incident, including 29 crews, 47 engines and two bulldozers.
Significant rainfall in the area slowed the progress of the fire in the early morning hours Saturday, but downed power lines and venting propane tanks pose serious threats.

One home and one outbuilding have been burned in the Round Fire, burning west of Highway 395 in Inyo and Mono counties. The towns of Paradise and Swall Meadows have been evacuated, as strong, shifting winds have made confinement difficult.
An evacuation center has been opened at the Crowley Lake Community Center.
As of late Friday, Cal Fire reported 500 acres had been burned. Lower Rock Creek Road at Toms Place, and Gorge Road, north of Hwy 395 have been closed.
