The Sacramento County Board of Supervisors is expected to vote Tuesday on a proposed new hotel for Sacramento International Airport.
Hyatt has agreed to operate a five-story hotel with 135 rooms and 3,500 square feet of meeting space north of the parking garage at Sacramento International Airport.
Sonnenblick Development LLC, will pay at least $23 million to build the hotel.
John Wheat is the county's Director of Airports. He says the proposed hotel makes more sense than the one originally proposed for Terminal B seven years ago.
"There was discussion of actually putting a full-service hotel on top of this facility. My understanding is we went through that development process that (from) a financial standpoint determined that wasn't feasible."
The county would would sell 164 parking spaces to Sonnenblick for about $2.5 million.
The county would collect $225,000 in rent for the first four years and then a percentage of gross revenue in following years.
If building restrictions are lifted by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, construction could begin this year and be finished by 2017.
