The inside of California's state capitol building was full of music Tuesday night.
Students from Oakland performed as part of the annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony. The event was held inside because of rain and California Governor Jerry Brown said even that's something to be thankful for.
"We have this wonderful building that was restored, and it was much of the memory and beauty of long ago," says Brown. "Tonight, we celebrate christmas, we celebrate lighting this tree, and we celebrate all the good things that we do for each other."
This was the 83rd Christmas tree ceremony.
This year's tree is a 53-foot White Fir from Shasta County. It's decorated with 900 hand-crafted ornaments made by people with developmental disabilities.
