Business owners in Midtown Sacramento say the economy is improving, but for some, it's too little too late.
Carol Neronde owns the Moppet Shoppe at 24th and J streets. She says business has been improving every month for the past two years.
"I see store fronts not being closed for very long. They seem to, when a business leaves, another one pops up right away, which is very positive."
Sheila Istvanick owns Ladybug Ladybug Gift Store about half a block away. She says more stores around her are open, but it's not enough to keep her afloat.
"It was really difficult. Now all of them are filled. So, that's great. That's good news. But, with that being said, I feel like I'm being chased out with my rents. I'm not willing to stay to keep up with the idea of things getting better because of what's gonna happen."
To spur business, shops are working together to draw customers.
Saturday, you can get a discount at a participating midtown business when you buy something at another participating midtown business.
