Fourteen acts are booked to perform at either Terminal A or B on the busiest travel days between now and Christmas.
Hans Eberbach kicked off the series this morning with a two-hour set.
He says the series shows Sacramento is part of a blossoming public arts and music scene.
"When I travel to Seattle or Portland, there's music everywhere -not just in the airport, but in the streets at events you know around town. It's encouraged. It's part of what makes the city so special. And I think Sacramento has a lot of people fighting for that."
Philip Easley of Grass Valley says music at the airport is great for travelers.
"I think it also give local artists an opportunity to be heard. Any exposure they can get is good for em."
Nearly 30 artists who applied to perform, but neither the Airport nor the Sacramento Metropolitan Arts Commission plans to expand the program.
