Some people have been hoping the City of Sacramento would return to the practice of picking up recycling every week. But that's not going to happen.
The city recently surveyed 640 residents by phone to find out if they wanted to abandon pickups every two weeks and return to weekly pickups, which were discontinued.
Erin Treadwell with the city says it turns out there isn't much of a demand.
"Seventy-five percent of residents surveyed felt that the every-other-week recycling service was adequate," says Treadwell.
The survey also found two-thirds of people would not be willing to pay more for weekly pickup.
The city also asked residents if they would like the leaf-collection season extended. A majority said November through January is fine.
And, a majority said they were unaware you could ask for an extra trash can or that you are supposed to collapse cardboard boxes when you throw them away. The city plans a media campaign to address those items.
