The City of Sacramento is asking for $609,000 to make sure the 5th Street Extension and Railyards Boulevard project is completed on time. The Sacramento City Council will vote on the project tomorrow Tuesday.
The two streets are among the main roadways within the Railyards development.
Jon Blank is the Supervising Engineer for the City of Sacramento. He says materials and overtime must be approved by the city council in order for the project to be completed by November 7th.
"The project is an infill project with state grant funding by the current property holder,(Inland America Holdings Sacramento LLC) received a grant some time ago and the City is assisting in delivery of the project."
The $609,000 will go to overtime, supports for new planter boxes, foundations for SMUD transformers, and 15,000 cubic yards of fill dirt.
Blank says such expenses late in projects are not uncommon and the project is still expected to come in more than $3 million under budget.
