Weldon Kirui earned the $10,000 winner's check by taking the lead near the six-mile mark. He finished in 2 hours, 14 minutes and 34 seconds.
Rebecca Wade claimed the women's title, and $10,000. The 24-year old from Houston finished the race in 2 hours, 30 minutes and 41 seconds, easily attaining the 2:43 qualifying standard for the 2016 U-S Olympic Marathon Trials.
More than 7,300 runners dealt with temperatures in the high 20s at the start and in the low 30s for most of the 26.2-mile race, stretching from near the Folsom Dam to the state Capitol.
