Stella Chambers with event co-sponsor Service Employees International Union-United Healthcare Workers West says organizers of the event expect 2,000 people to attend.
"So many people out here today that are uninsured, but are eligible that don't even have the basic information to access themselves to get the care," says Chambers.
Chambers says people will need proper identification, proof of residency, and financial statements to complete the application process.
Local and state agencies like Covered California will be available to help people find out if they qualify for no-cost or low cost insurance.
There are about 30 similar events scheduled throughout the state in the next three days.
About 100 events have been held already this month.
